It’s been years since I’ve started tweeting. I would like some easy to use app that can display what I’ve tweeted a year ago and the years before. Then I can easily search that timeframe just by tapping on that tweet. I could see a graphical timeline that can be swiped through with my fingers with small bubbles popping up of tweets if i move my finger slowly across the screen. Twitter can be used much more than a social or news app. It can be a diary. You can see what you did in the past. I could imagine that in the future… future generations will explore their ancestors archived twitter timelines and Facebook profiles to learn more about them.

AGGIECRAFT!!!

So I’m into Minecraft… yea… really into Minecraft! At first, I played a lot in survival mode, now I play creative mode online and this past week, I’ve been working with a wonderful group of Aggies who are dedicated into building the full campus of Texas A&M University. Currently, we have most of Kyle Field built. I’ve been touching it up with details and starting to expand around it. Our goal is to build around Kyle Field till we’ve completed the campus. Part of the team has already been beta testing Aggiecraft’s RPG portion of the server. I’ve been building on my time off from classes and studies. We only have a few whitelisted members right now and hope to have more soon who are skilled at building.

Here’s a video of Aggiecraft.

Overtime, I have adapted to finding the right price for items. Here are some common tech items that can be overpriced.

Ethernet Cables- Going to a highly advertised electronics store can be very expensive depending on what you get. Ethernet cables can be expensive if you don’t look hard enough. A common 6’ Cat-5e Ethernet can cost around $20 at Best Buy when you can really get one for around $5 at Fry’s Electronics.

Memory Sticks/SD Cards- These items are also overpriced at stores such as Best Buy and Office Depot. You could be paying $30 for a 4GB memory stick or SD card. Like the Oakley Sunglasses, your really just paying for the brand name. Sony is very overpriced on their items. I suggest never buying accessories from Sony. Only major hardware units like cameras and TVs should be bought from Sony. The best deal I’ve found is a rare store called Micro Center. You can get a 4GB SD Card or a 4GB Memory Stick for just $6. Just make sure the memory stick has Micro Center labeled on it. This goes for Micro SDs and Memory Sticks/SD Cards at higher capacities. If you don’t have a Micro Center in your area, you can order online at microcenter.com.

Writable DVDs and CDs- Again these items are overpriced depending on the brand. Micro Center offers a pack of 50 CDs for around $6 and a pack of 50 DVDs for around $12. Yeah, that’s a hell of a deal!

HDMI Cables- HDMI Cables are probably the most overpriced item I have ever dealt with. Gold plated 3D HDMI 6’ Cables can be easily overpriced at $80 at Best Buy. You can get the same thing for $7 on Amazon.com. Just make sure it’s the Amazon brand.

Screen Protectors- When I buy a product, I check the quality of the item. Zagg offers the best screen protectors, and these aren’t just sticky cheap plastic sheets, these are military grade screen protectors. The material is used on military helicopter blades. The screen protectors do not get scratches and they are very hard to rip with your bare hands. Now they do cost way more than any other screen protector, but here’s the thing, once you buy a Zagg screen protector, you never have to buy a replacement again. Zagg has a unlimited warranty on these screen protectors. They make protectors for pretty much every single electronic device including nice watches such as Rolex’s and they have various options for each protector. You can either get your device completely covered with the screen protector or just protect the screen. For just protecting the screen, it’s $20 which is pricey, but Zagg hands out a ton of deals every week. If you just follow them on twitter, you can get 20% off online and if you spend a lot online, you get free shipping, so order several screen protectors for your friends and family.

Printers- Never buy HP printers, they suck. If your a student, they have great deals on back to school. Heck, buying a new printer that comes with ink is cheaper than buying the ink alone.

Accessories for Your Apple Products- Never buy Apple Accessories.

Computer Games- Download them through Steam. Steam has deals all the time.

Particles Faster Than The Speed of Light Discovered!

Particles Faster Than The Speed of Light Discovered!:
CERN has recently discovered particles that can travel faster than the speed of light.

The Fall of the United States

Once, the US was a leader in science. Today, most Americans are scientifically illiterate and one of the major political parties – Republicans — largely rejects science and scientists as “elitist.” Research budgets are being slashed. The space shuttle has flown its last flight. Climate scientists are demonized and marginalized, even as epochal storms, heat waves, and draughts sweep across our country and lay waste our planet.

Once, US infrastructure was the envy of the world. Our planes, our trains, our highways, our damns, bridges, buildings and communication systems were the benchmark against which other countries measured their worth. Investing in it created well-paying jobs and wealth-generating capacity. Now, it is a crumbling punch line to a tragic national joke.

Once, the US system of laws and regulations was recognized as the pre-requisite of a civilized and prosperous society. It created transparent markets; honest securities exchanges; level playing fields for all players; equitable sharing of wealth between workers and managers; safe and humane working conditions; a clean and livable environment. Today, most Americans think government regulation destroyed the economy. They even believe that the plutocrats who destroyed this regulatory infrastructure — the most successful wealth-generating machine in the world’s history — are the “job creators” and the source of the formerly shared prosperity that is now disappearing into the coffers of the few from the wallets of the many.

Once, the US educational system was the preeminent model for educating the populace. While our Universities are managing to hold on to their esteemed position by their thumbnails (partly by attracting talented foreign students), our K-12 programs are not keeping up.

America is truly declining in science. Here is a project I did that talks about the major shift in America’s science.

The Future of The Internet

Today, we are currently in the download age. Believe it or not, we are ditching hard media and moving on to soft. DVDs and CDs are becoming a thing of the past. What about Blu-rays and video game discs? That too, but that will be the last of hard media. Game discs will probably go before Blu-rays in the next generation of consoles, but Blu-rays will be around because of their capacity. The average hard drive can take a common library of standard definition video which is on average 1.5 GB for each movie. HD video content can reach 5x the size of a standard definition video. Hard drives today are internal discs (hard disc drives) and can hold a high capacity at low cost to hold this HD content, but we are degrading back down to solid state drives which cost much more and haven’t reached a really high capacity.

Many people are relying on the internet to get their music, movies, TV shows, games, and programs. We are less commonly using our disc drives to burn a disc, watch a DVD, or install a program onto our computers. Just ask yourself, when was the last time you inserted a disc into your computer?

Of course, the download age won’t be around for long. Downloading will be around but in a different form, which is becoming very common today, called Streaming. Yes, even though we use it today like You Tube, Netflix, and Hulu , the future of the internet is Streaming. Once networks meet the excellent bandwidth needs of everyone, Streaming will be the next step. It’s kinda odd because streaming can ditch those high capacity hard drives. Don’t worry, there is still a need for those. You don’t normally get internet service outside of home such as data service all around the world with your smart phone. You don’t get 3G service out in the wilderness and of course you don’t get 4G service in every city. We are starting to rely more on servers to store our content. I know I do. My most of my photos are on facebook, and my home videos are stored privately on You Tube. Apple’s iCloud has opened up this server reliability more to where we can delete our media and re-download it later whenever we want it. Xbox will be allowing gamers to store their game saves on the Xbox Live servers so that they won’t lose them and its less content on the hard drives. Now being able to download your content from servers doesn’t mean it’s the streaming age. That’s still the download age because you are storing the content on your computer. Streaming is where you are literally streaming your media library from servers. You won’t have to worry about fitting all of your content on to one pocket device. That device can just stream it like listening to Pandora on your iPhone through 3G service or WiFi. But streaming goes beyond just streaming personal media or just watching You Tube and Hulu videos.

A new technology has demonstrated this future of streaming. It’s allowing powerful servers to process information and display that information on your computer or electronic device. Lets say your computer is a Intel Core 2 Duo laptop. You really don’t want to buy a new laptop that has an i7 Intel Processor just so that your computer can process a powerful program or even buy a better graphics card for a powerful program. Streaming will solve this problem. You can stream a program that needs a powerful computer to process the information to a less powerful computer. Your computer acts like a window to a supercomputer you can’t afford. Streaming never requires a better computer, but a new program does.

This technology has started showing up in a gaming company called Onlive. Onlive is basically the future of gaming. It’s not really the next generation of gaming because every house hold has not met up to its standards. Onlive allows you to stream a computer game to your computer without meeting the requirements of a game. The only requirement needed is a fast internet connection. Limited requirements mean compatibility with both Mac and PC, no need for more than 2GB of ram, no need for a high end processor or a graphics card, no need for a large amount of space on your hard drive, and no need to install the game. The game is all run by powerful servers. This large amount of processing power is great for developers. Developers are able create games that can’t even run on the most powerful desktop computer in the market. The realism for games is going to skyrocket with this technology. What’s even better is that these games can’t only be played on the Mac or PC, they can be played on an Onlive console connected to a TV and on tablets such as the iPad.
